Stephen Sheaffer, CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA, MAFF | |
Steve has been a certified public accountant for over 40 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to client relationships and engagements. His expertise includes tax planning and compliance services, business valuation and litigation support, financial statements, mergers and acquisitions, and general practice public accounting services. His Alaskan journey began in 1987, when he transferred as a senior tax manager with KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP and moved his family from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Anchorage. During his time with KPMG in Anchorage, Steve worked with numerous Alaska Native Regional and Village Corporations and Tribal entities as well as many large and small Alaska based businesses, including fishing, timber and mining industries. Prior to purchasing Kerr McVey in 2006, Steve previously served as a Tax Director at the local CPA firms of Thomas, Head & Greisen, PC and Altman, Rogers, & Co., APC. Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Alaska Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. He is a past president of the Kiwanis International Anchorage Kiwanis Club, the Anchorage Hockey Association, and the Alaska State Hockey Association. Steve served on the UAA Seawolf Blueliner board for many years and is a former recreational youth hockey coach and referee. Steve is presently working with the Seawolf Hockey Alliance as Treasurer. In addition to public accounting, Steve enjoys golf, fishing, and traveling. He is a loving husband, father, and grandfather. | |

Matthew Sheaffer, EA | |
Matt has received Steve’s mentorship since 2007 and transitioned to a full-time public accounting career in 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage and an Enrolled Agent credential to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Matt has 15 years of public accounting and tax compliance experience with individuals, corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies. Prior to his public accounting career, Matt was a certified welder and fabricator and a heavy equipment operator with VECO and CH2M Hill on the Alaska North Slope. During his time with construction, he held supervisory positions of welding foreman, structural foreman, and general foreman. Matt was involved with several major North Slope oil and gas installations including ENI Petroleum’s Oliktok Point and Spy Island and Conoco Phillips’ CD5 site at Alpine. Matt is a former recreational youth hockey coach and ECHL on-ice official. He competed as a snare drummer with Crow Creek Pipes and Drums in the World Pipe Band Championships (Grade 3B) in Glasgow, Scotland. In addition to public accounting, Matt enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, and handyman jobs around the house. He is a loving husband and father. |
